I would want to know what my A1C is at least every 6 months. Discuss it with your doctors.

A HbA1C tells your historic average blood glucose level for the previous 90 days.

A red blood cell lives about 90 days before it is eliminated from your system. In the 1st 24 hours it takes on your average blood glucose number.

So it is a wonderful tool for doctors to use for treatment decisions.

A fasting blood test is just a moment in time and does not tell a story --- other than your bodies ability to produce a bit of insulin. And that you are eating within your carb tolerance for that one test.
