Hello Kevin

Have you tried eating a snack of just carbs before you go to sleep?
Jerky for instance?

The diabetes itself will do more damage to your organs than the anti-diabetes medicine. I have several chronic conditions due to going undiagnosed to long. It's called cumulative damage. Please don't let this happen to you. T2 can be put in remission with diet, exercise, and anti-diabetes medication if needed. I've was in remission at one time, for a year. @A DiabetesTeam Member, and @A DiabetesTeam Member are in remission. Do you have an endocrinologist? They can help you greatly.

@A DiabetesTeam Member it absolutely can be reversed - I did that over 8 years ago

My A1C is always below 6.0% and I don't take "any" anti-diabetic meds

But that is only possible because I keep my BMI down in the lows 20's, I religiously eat a low carb diet - no more than 35 carbs/meal and less than 130 total per day

I count, weigh, measure everything that goes in mouth

If it's a meal out, I check the nutritional information for the restaurant before hand. Even the fast food places have a chart that will tell you how many calories/carbs in a given item

So there is some "homework" until you learn what you can and can not eat and how much whether you are home or away and when you do it "without meds" there is no safety net if you fall off the wagon or choose to ignore what you need to do

Likewise, it's nearly impossible to manage without meds if you are even a little overweight - your weight is almost directly proportional to you level of insulin resistance, and unless a Diabetic is at normal weight it's almost impossible to overcome the insulin resistance without drugs

What you weigh and what you eat is absolutely within your control - the better you control the two of them, the less chance you will need medications to manage your blood sugar

I have had other peple tell me it can be reversed and I believe them. I was taking merformin jardiance and januvia. I stoo taking them as I believe they are damaging my organs. I will work with my doctor but if she cant help me I will look for other sources.

@A DiabetesTeam Member fasting/overnight numbers are the result of an imbalance in our metabolism that developed often times over years mostly through mistreating our body

Not blaming here, just highlighting that to fix it (without medication) is a long process

In the meantime, high fasting numbers (above 126) are doing damage to your vascular system which once set in, can't be reveresed

So if you are not maxed out on your metformin dosage it needs to be increased (by your Doctor of course) and if you are maxed out then it's time to add a secondary medication or long acting insulin

Doing nothing is beyond hazardous to your health
