Members shared their perspectives on whether mainstream peanut butter with hydrogenated oil is dangerous, with most steering toward natural alternatives while acknowledging that occasional consumption of brands like Jif or Skippy hasn't caused noticeable issues for some. Several members recommended making homemade peanut butter with olive oil, peanuts, salt, and honey, or switching to natural brands like Teddie that use only peanuts and salt, which can be paired with sugar-free jam, apple slices, celery, or crackers for a diabetic-friendly snack. A recurring theme was balancing taste preferences with health goals, being mindful of added sugars and artificial sweeteners like xylitol, and finding practical ways to enjoy peanut butter as a quick energy source or satisfying treat without guilt.

I do a natural peanut butter, I don’t like the taste of sweetened peanut butter. I’ve ground my own but haven’t for a long time. I’m quite guilty of eating a spoonful right out of the jar. It goes great with carrots and celery.
