I’m Having A Hard Time Getting The Right Diabetic Medication That Won’t Cause My Ankles To Swell Up. Any Suggestions?

I’m Type 2 I’ve tried Glipizide, metformin & now Toujeo insulin & they all make my ankles swell. I was taking Mounjaro & I didn’t have an issue of my ankles swelling but I had to stop it cause I ended up with Gastroparsis

Yes, Hkc. There could be other reasons. We tend many times to blame any new condition on diabetes.

Maybe they are not the culprit. Maybe your vascular system is damaged. It shows up 1st in your feet.

It sounds like you're navigating a tough situation with your medications. Since Mounjaro worked for you without causing ankle swelling but led to gastroparesis, it’s important to discuss alternative options with your doctor. Some medications, like SGLT2 inhibitors (e.g., Jardiance or Farxiga), may help manage blood sugar and reduce fluid retention, potentially easing swelling. Always consult your healthcare provider before making changes.
