Focus on what you can eat, and not what you can't eat.
And if there are truly no options available and you really have to eat... then eat a little.
And if you Type 1, inject accordingly.
I am very adamant about what I eat in ANY situation. For me GPS: no grains, potatoes, sugar EVER. I dont drink alcohol so that isnt an issue in social situations any. Plus I never EVER make a fuss about what I can and cant eat because I am the one making the choices, not a host, not a restaurant. The responsibility lies with me.
It's usually not a problem. Family and friends understand. I eat what I'm comfortable with and in small portions. I might try a spoon of something to apeas them, but it's rare. I'm staying in control of what I eat!
Unless it was a "dessert only" spread of food there is always lots you can eat
Chow down on the protein and fats while sticking to "less starchy" veggies - avoid sauces, glazes and the "stuff you know you shouldn't be eating"
If it's a single meal (some occasion) at worst you end up a little less than fully satisfied
On the other hand, if you have been good about your diet for the past number of weeks, taking a single meal off is not going to kill you, but be reasonable - 2 whole pizza's is never a good idea 😁
I avoid restaurants if I can. If I have to then I treat it as a day off and eat whatever I want. There’s little point in trying to opt for low carb in UK restaurants so I just close my eyes the next time I take a blood test!
If I’m at someone’s house at a dinner party then I choose vegetables and avoid cereals and root vegetables. I’ll have pudding but ask for a small portion.
Yes I’ve cut down on restaurants but hey my health comes first and if people don’t like it then tough.
