Impact Of Extreme Heat And Humidity...
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm DT1. I'm in hyperglycemia a lot when it's very hot and humid... Do you also experience this? How do you deal with it?

Thank you Graham. With the climatic changes we're now experiencing, it seems extreme heat and humidity will be our new norm...😕

Hydrate - drink as much water as you can choke down

Heat/Humidity causes mild dehydration.

Less water in our blood means more concentrated sugar (higher levels)

If you are not a lover of water then any fluids (zero carb is best) will hydrate you, even coffee or tea which do act as diuretics but there is more water in cup then is sucked from your system by the diuretic effect
