What Does A Typical Day Look Like For You Living With Diabetes?

I am lucky to be retired so if I'm not feeling the greatest, I don't have to stress about having to go to work. Most of the time I feel okay, but some days I am tired, irritable and nauseous. Usually have no trouble sleeping, test my glucose in the morning, have a bit of breakfast because I need to take the metformin. Do some walking and a bit of a routine with weights and then go about my day. Try to eat properly but that doesn't always work out. Test glucose again before bed and inject my insulin. Get up and do it all again. Some days just sick of the whole thing, constantly going to the doctor to be monitored, constant medication, etc. etc. Just plod along as best as I can. That's about all any of us can do.

For me there is only 2 real changes in the 7 years since diagnosis compared to the 7 years before

Now I wake up and "scan my sensor" and then scan a few more times a day but the biggest change is what I eat

No more cold pizza for breakfast or a couple donuts for lunch with a coffee

But aside from that not a thing has changed for me in terms of my life

Yes, Diabetes Sucks but it better get out of my way - I doesn't mean I can't do everything I did before the diagnosis so I'm not going to let it

Do I have to pace myself a little more than I did? Sure, but I'm also getting older as well so we can't blame everything on Diabetes

But if anyone is thinking "I can't do that anymore because I'm Diabetic" - maybe give it a try. You may find that the disease effects your "perception" far more than your ability....

There is no “typical” day, each day is atypical. From going to sleep, during sleep, waking, eating to napping to exercise, working, everything I do as a diabetic revolves around diabetes management and surviving. The blood sugar checks, the scans, keeping my emotions in check, the medications, meal planning, carb counting, the doctor appointments, the finger pricks to eating to drinking, each day I think about the next second. There isn’t a typical day, that is the reality of this dis-ease.

Been diabetic (type 2) for16 years. Initially not much changed except more caution with eating. At that time I basically used metformin only but over the years, especially the last ten years added Ozempic which worked extremely well but due to lack of supply had to switch to Trulicity. My sugars has improved when my dose was increased and am seeing some weight loss, not as dramatic as when I was on Ozempic!

I am feeling well so far. I take my metformin twice a day. My struggle is to keep my sugar level low but I tried to eat health and do some exercises
