I Was Recently Diagnosed As Pre Diabetic & Wanted To Know What Symptoms To Look Out For If This Isnt Getting Better & Evolving Into Diabetes
Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member,
If you do these things you can gain some control of your prediabetes / diabetes journey.
If you treat prediabetes as if your A1C were 6.5 or higher and you were diagnosed diabetic then you can slow the progression.
Cut out all added sugars in food and drink.
Properly hydrate. 3-5 litres daily is a good rule of thumb. Your urine should be clear and not foamy.
Limit your carbs to 100-130 carbs spread equitable throughout 3-5 meals and 1-2 snacks daily.
Eat to your meter in TITR,
Range 4.0(72) to 7.8(140).
Cut out all white carbs
Pasta
Breads
Breads
Potatoes
Cakes.
Substitute whole grains and high fiber options.
Portion control
I use the plate method, plate all my food before eating on a 7 inch plate.
Half plate very low carb vegetables.
Quarter plate protein.
Quarter plate high fiber and whole grain carbs,
Or 1 serving diabetic friendly fruit.
Eat in this pattern
Bites 1 and 2 vegetables.
Bite 3 protein.
Bite 4 carb.
Repeat this order till done.
Baby steps. I can do baby steps and you can too. I wish for you more good days than bad and have many exceptional days too.
Get 6-7 hours sleep nightly, 8 is better.
And never give up, never surrender, never ever.
You got this.
Have a wonderful day.
