I had gout and was put on a steroid progesterone (?) and on my blood sugar is running high, which will raise my A1c I'm taking cinnamon etc to help lower it , will magnesium do a better job?
Short answer is yes but you have to temper your expectations - it's "not" a drug
Magnesium, Calcium and Potassium are three electrolytes that are important for blood sugar management
But it's mostly a case of it being more difficult to control blood sugar if you are "deficient" in one or all of these and not a case of take some supplemental magnesium and it lowers your blood sugar - and that distinction should be made
The same is true if you have a chromium deficiency (common in Type 2's) - replacing it gets you back to "whatever your normal is"
Likewise cinnamon, if it is the strain from Ceylon (which is usually not the spice in the aisle at the grocery store) can help put downward pressure on your fasting blood sugar
So if you like cinnamon certainly put it on everything applicable, but it should never be seen as an actual "treatment" but rather a "small helper" in your overall management program
There is no combination of naturals, traditionals, vitamins, minerals or trace elements in "any combination" that can do as much for your blood sugar control as a single 500 mg Metformin Tablet
But every little bit helps
