I will have a glass of wine here and there or a mixed drink every now and then. Don’t deprive yourself, it is ok on occasions to have one.
I didn't drink any alcohol before my diagnosis and don't now. So, for me, nothing has changed in that regard.
I moderate what I drink. I always been a drinker of Single malt, stouts, porters and wine. I rarely do mix drinks. My blood sugar stays low and when I have a mixed drink it would go up. So keep it pure ,keep it simple. Oh! I am a type 2.
Never did smoke but was a very heavy drinker. The pain of diabetic neurotrophy stopped the drinking 3 years ago
The last drink I had was a glass of wine with dinner on Christmas. I used to drink every day. And I was a smoker. Neither of those things work with diabetes. I quit smoking 25 years ago. Haven't had one since as I think it would be easy to get right back into it. I have balance issues now so driking more than the occasional drink is not wise.
