Has Anyone Ever Had Any Luck With Cinnamon Or Apple Cider Vinegar For Blood Sugar

I have noted a "measurable" positive change in blood sugar due to Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV)

ACV slows gastric emptying - so it's not that it does something to the sugar or stops it from being absorbed but rather spreads the uptake over a longer period of time

So instead of the (carbs) in whatever you ate getting "quickly" absorbed causing a high spike, they are more slowly absorbed over a longer period of time

All the sugar still ends up in your system but because it takes longer it gives (our) compromised systems a little longer to deal with it.

This will only work if you are at least producing some insulin and your insulin resistance is not absolute

But I didn't notice any "miracles" - I'm talking about a bunch of "known blood sugar levels" for a specific meal with and without ACV. With ACV taken before the meal I see a regular 0.3-0.4 mmols or 5 to 7 points lower blood sugar then without it

So not "throwing away any meds" but as part of my (your) overall plan it helps "a little"

Cinnamon, but only the Ceylon Strain (which is not the stuff you get in the spice section of the grocery store) has been shown to put downward pressure on your Fasting Blood Sugar which tends to indicate it works on the Liver which is responsible for our fasting sugars

However, clinically test patients had to take 3 grams daily for it to be of therapeutic value - at typically supplementary dose (from one of the vitamin companies) is about 600mg - so 5 capsules a day would be needed

So if you like Cinnamon and can find the Ceylon strain then use it

But temper your expectations

There is no combination of naturals and traditionals taken in any combination that will come close to the value you get from a single 500 mg dose of Metformin

But if you do a bunch of things that "help a little" collectively, along with diet, exercise and taking your meds as prescribed will give you better overall control

Just don't look for a magic bullet - if any of the traditionals actually worked "well" Diabetes would have been cured 2 centuries ago

(personally I take ACV, Chromium, Milk Thistle, a Daily Probiotic and add supplemental fiber - Inulin which is ground up chicory root because none of us get enough fiber from diet alone)

I "believe" they, along with a very strict diet, help me stay off medication but I have no illusion. It is controlling the carbs that go down my throat that has the greatest effect - the supplements "may" simply provide a small safety net if I mess up
