Does Any Take Or Know Somebody Who Takes Jardiance Or Farxiga?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

My insurance has decided not to cover my rybellsus. No skin off my back really.. but now my Dr wants to see if the insurance company will cover either of the above mentioned scripts.. I am not fond of the side effects from either. I had taken the inovokana but ended up with yeast infections every month.. esp right before my period. Sorry guys that is on my team if it's TMI.

The jardiance has ten side effects.. they said it was tested more in t1 than t2. But I am not fond of the side effects..

There is a few in a group I work with on the Jardiance.

If you had problems with the Invokana the Jardiance and Farxiga will likely give you the same trouble - effectively the same drug, works the same way and yes, 20% of people just can't take it due to the yeast infections/UTI's

While all in that class (SGLT-2) work really, really well if you don't get the infections, it sounds like "your system" just couldn't handle it

There is a couple of other drug classes (the Rybelsus belongs to GLP-1 along with Ozempic and Trulicity but it is the only "oral med" in that class - the rest are injectables) or there is the DPP-4 class which includes Januvia and Tradjenta and neither of those two classes cause the UTI problems

Certainly your Doc would have known you had trouble with the Invokana???

All the Diabetes drugs have a list of side effects as long as your arm. Just have to keep in mind that they will "delay or prevent" an even longer and nastier list of side effects if the Diabetes goes uncontrolled

There is no "great choice". It's always a "lesser of two crappy choices"

I take farxiga and have had no pronlem with it. I haven't had a uti or yeast infection since i have been on it. I have never been prone to them before. I personally don't look at side effects of my meds unless i start having a new problem. I prefer to see how the meds affect me first.

I take Jardiance. I haven't experienced any side effects. You must make sure that you are drinking enough water. My diabetic educator said that Jardiance removes sugar through the urine. If you don't drink enough the sugar will sit there and bacteria can feed off the sugar causing infections. So stay hydrated to push that sugar out.
