Yes, it is recommended that people with diabetes take their blood sugar test as soon as possible after waking up in the morning, before eating or drinking anything. This is because blood sugar levels can be affected by factors such as food intake, physical activity, and medication use, so taking the test on an empty stomach provides the most accurate reading of your fasting blood sugar level.

If you are waking up at 4:00 am and not taking the blood sugar test until 6:00 am, you are missing out on valuable information about your blood sugar levels during the early morning hours. This can make it more difficult to manage your diabetes effectively, as you may not have a complete picture of how your body is responding to your medication, diet, and other lifestyle factors.

To get the most accurate reading of your fasting blood sugar level, try to take the test as soon as possible after waking up, ideally within 30 minutes. This can help you better understand your blood sugar levels and make any necessary adjustments to your diabetes management plan

Please remember that for a true fasting blood sugar you should be fasting for a minimum of 8 hours. Some Doctors even insist on fasting to be 12 hours.
It's best to take your fasting just before eating ensuring that 8 to 12 hours have been the last time you ate. . The important thing is not to eat or drink anything apart from water before doing your fasting blood sugar.

I have discovered that when I get up and test it's around 5 or 6,as the morning progresses, without me consuming even a drop of water, it rises. In order to keep it in check, test as soon as possible and have something light to eat and take your meds, however this is my experience and I'm on tablets. Works for me, tc all of you, sending love and lightπŸ™πŸ˜Š

Yes for a morning fasting blood glucose number, it should be done upon waking. But all numbers have significance.
