How Sitting All Day Can Erase A Workout
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

After a 30 minute walk it is important not to just sit the rest of the day. It could negate the 30 minute walk for BG control. Important to move a little all day or lengthen the walk by 10 or 15 minutes. It seems a good time to exercise is after your last meal. That seems to keep BS under control the rest of the day.

With a house full I usually don’t sit until the evening. I feel it’s so important to stay active. I feel so much better and less fatigue. That’s why I was so surprised when I got the diabetes diagnoses. I had no symptoms I felt great, wasn’t tired, didn’t have excessive thirst, none of the classic warning signs. Surgery has put a damper on my exercise but Dr said I can get back to walking on the treadmill. I’m glad as FBG is a bit elevated.

I don’t know the medical science data but I read it’s bad to sit for long periods. Even if you just get up every now and a while and walk around . I even read sitting at a desk all day is bad you are better standing at a desk than sitting.

I believe it's up to the person and your body. U can use weight bands and work out before u even get out of bed. I broke my back car wreck 2015 and that's how I worked out. So I don't walk even today besides in the house. But good luck with your body and hope it works for u.

I was a day care teacher for over 30 + years so I was always very active chasing the little ones all day. Even after I retired ,I kept myself moving all the time. I am just not a person to sit and do nothing I have to do something.
