If you are asking specifically about "fasting numbers" - those you take first thing in the morning before you eat anything, the guidance for Type 2 Diabetics is "under 126" (7.0 mmols).

The general guidance for after meals/random times is "under 180" (10.0 mmols) however, given you are young and will have to cope for 'decades' I would likewise suggest what @A DiabetesTeam Member does - trying to stay under 140 (technically 144 or 8.0 mmols) will allow you to grow old, without debilitating complications.

However, this is general guidance, and you should always discuss your targets with your Doc since other medical conditions can become "more complicated" if you target your blood sugar "too low".

I would say 180 is max, my glucose tester makes it very clear when I have gone beyond my target of 180.
