Once Weekly Injections
I asked my Doc about Ozempic he thought it would be a good idea, but my insurance company and prescription assistance turned it down due to a shortage of the drug, they suggested Trulicity. So Now I am on Trulicity, and they swapped my Soliqua for Lantus, I'm on Faxiga AND Glipizide and Humalog. I'm lucky I can stand, I am nauseas all the time, I get a headache right after my Trulicity injection, I get really dizzy too (bran fog anyone?)
Question: What is the difference between Ozempic and T… read more
Same active drug, same side effects.
Can think of them like Coke and Pepsi - both "cola" just a different maker that tweaked a couple of the non-important ingredients to be able to call it different.
If you have just recently started the injections the side effects "should" subside in a few weeks. Typically you take low dose for 4 weeks then move up to a higher dose.
If after you get to the final dose for a few weeks, if you are still having significant effects it will likely never get better and you will have to discontinue use. There is always some drugs that some of us will never be able to take even if thousands don't have issues.
PS - Rybelsus is a tablet form of the same drug - doesn't work quite as well as the injections (no pill we take orally does - the stomach acid etc does knock it pretty hard and we don't get all the medicine out of the pill). It is taken daily but it may or may not give an individual the same side effects as the injection - maybe something to ask about if things don't settle down
@A DiabetesTeam Member I started at the higher dose and it hasn't gotten easier, but I manage it better, it's really bad the first day and by day three the symptoms tapper to an annoyance. The Rybelsus was not recommended by my doctors, I forgot what the reason was, plus it isn't covered by my insurance of my prescription assistance program.
