So What About A Milk Thistle Supplement?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

Continuing on with my blabbing about supplements I'm going to chat a bit about Milk Thistle.

Milk Thistle was "not" a traditional Diabetes Treatment, but before the time of Pharmaceuticals it was used to treat the Liver or the Gaul Bladder, but you now find it in many of the "one a day Diabetes supplements".

So why did it get included?

A few years back a group of researchers were looking for a (more natural remedy) to treat liver toxicity in patients that use Acetaminophen (Tylenol) daily to… read more

@A DiabetesTeam Member. I don't do Snake oil anything for sure. I have a good background in research along with my education. A sister who studied natural holistic solutions. And a 2nd sister who is a Dietician, MS w/Letters on her name. She works in a pediatric dept. I'm pretty well covered.

I try to have a good attitude in using a doctor's care. But it is drug training you come up against. My goal (and I am almost there) was to get off all drugs.
I got to 6.1 on the A1C,,,,and the introduction to the Pacemaker set me back a bit, Currently A1C is 7.0πŸ˜€
I agree that there needs to be complete overhaul of educational information in all of our education system. Including what we will accept in our processed foods.
Don't get me stared....LOL As a Home Economics professional I could start the program.

Yes, that would be of great benefit.

(engaged in their own treatment) Type 2's are always looking for solid information on supplements.

If you just google them you get all kinds of Snake Oil Salesmen trying to convince you they can cure everything from Cancer to Hangnails, so is always preferable to have someone be able to give a first hand account of at least how (whatever product) worked for them.

@A DiabetesTeam Member. I appreciate your caution and guidance of supplements. Talking to someone well versed in any amount of supplementation is key with the diabetic condition. I will be doing research on my Kidney levels and pancreas.
I would be happy to share results later. I know dandelion has some favorable applications but I would need to look them up again. Because of my chemobrain status I will unearth my notebook. See what I can find.🀩
