Hi @A DiabetesTeam Member,
Welcome aboard and into our family. Love you. Praying for you. Want only the best for you. That's what family does. How can we help and support you.

It sounds like you were having a bout of reactive hypoglycemia. That is having a hypo even before you get down to 70 blood glucose numbers from a quick drop from a higher number after consuming too many carbs.

I have had reactive hypos and they suck. I avoid them by right eating for me. I hate hypos.

The other thing that could be at work is - if your normal blood glucose numbers were significantly higher and you are recently just getting down to this range - then your body is used to higher blood glucose numbers and will take some time to adjust.

Baby Steps. I beat down my diabetes monster one baby step at a time daily. I can do baby steps. I enjoy my life on my terms. I rejoice in the good times and the not so good. I won't let diabetes control my life. Take control of your life and get those numbers down. It's not easy, but it can be done. Baby steps.

Baby steps. Keep a blood glucose numbers spreadsheet and food journal. I test 4-6 times a day, sometimes more. I eat to my meter. Baby steps.

1st Baby step, cut out all added sugars in food and drink. Cut out all processed foods. Baby steps.

2nd Baby step, When you are ready, portion control. I plate all my food on a 7 inch plate before eating. the Japanese recommend
Half plate very low carb vegetables,
Quarter plate protein,
Quarter plate high fiber, or whole grain carbs, or whole fruit.
Baby steps.

The Japanese recommend walking 10-15 minutes immediately after eating. This redirects blood from digestion to your muscles and slows digestion and lowers glucose spikes. Baby steps.

3rd baby step. When you are ready, Eliminate white flour, white bread, white pasta, white potatoes, white rice.
Baby steps.

4th Baby step. When you are ready, Exercise if your doctors allow. Start slow and gradually increase. Baby steps.

5th Baby step, find that compelling reason to do what's necessary. Do what's necessary. Baby steps.

In December my A1C was calculated at 13.5, February 6.9, May 4.9, August 5.1. I am doing it without medications, my choice. I do what's necessary, you can too. It's hard, very, very hard, but it can be done. Your life and quality of life depends on it. Baby steps, I can do Baby steps.

Never give up, never surrender, never ever.
We got this.
Have a blessed day.

Thanks so much. will be working on doing what you said. the sugar is a hard one lol I have switched to diet soda and I hate it but better then none.. maybe if I can ever get it under control how you have I'd feel so much better I'm sure not always so sleepy. to the point I have to put my cigarettes away from me or I'll light one on bed and fall asleep with it. have done it many times. that was before I knew I had this going on. I'm on methadone have been going to clinic since 8/2/2010 and my mom at first was saying my dose was to high is why I was nodding out like thst lol I been on 95mg now for I'd say a good 7 years thats all I take so I knew it wasn't that. it was her thst talked me into getting tested for it I wasn't going to cause of the copays on stuff I jist didn't have the money tbh.. Glad I did tho now cause I guess I was going down a bad path. I have diabetes on both sides of my family so I guess I shoukd have seen it. I mean a person who xsnv use a 10 pound bag of sugar In about two months jist in my morning coffee not to mention the sweets and stuff I love. so I'm gonna really have to try harder at this I can see that. I think this is what has caused my legs to be all spotty like... I seen it come on slowly..... but anyway.... I'm gonna really really try this I shouldn't say try feel like I'm. sitting myself up to fail already. woukd be scary me to go to bed with my dog and go into a coma being the only one at my house and him my dog be stuck in the bed with me he to little go get down himself if b afraid he woukd jump and hurt himself all because I wanted to eat some sweets.. haha my mind goes all over the place thinking stuff.. anyway thanks so much
