It is a life style change if you want to get your blood sugar level to normal. And once you get in your head and make that decision that only you can make. Then you take one step at a time. I had Baraitric surgery last Feb.17th.2020 I stopped drinking diet pop and all junk food and no tea. And I lost 30lbs in 7 months. I still have craving for that stuff so I knit or crochet until the feeling go's away. And I started to make my own pasta sauce by roasting all kinds of veggies that I roasted it in the oven then I put in a pot with tomato juice, tomato paste I even used garlic whole cloves roasted with the veggies then I would put the veggies in the blender then add to the tomato juice. Then put into sterlized jars. tighten the lids and put them in a water bath on the stove ( in a large pot) and cook for 40 minutes then carefully lift out of the water and turn the jars upside down for the night then turn upright the next. Then you can use the sauce with anything. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me okay Kevin. Yes a person should have a least 20 grams of protein per meal. That is through the Baraitric Center. Have a good day Kevin

Hello Kevin,

I follow a "high fat" diet, so 60% of my calories come from fat - primarily from meat, dairy and nuts (which also contain a fair bit of protein).

There is very few vegetables in my diet. It doesn't cause any problems with my blood sugars which are controlled down to non-diabetic levels (A1C 5.4 for 4 years in a row), but the lack the veggies does "possibly cause" some other longer term issues.

The diet I follow has been determined to reduce your life expectancy by 4 years (over average). But given uncontrolled diabetes reduces it by 20 years, 4 sounds a whole lot better than 20 πŸ˜ƒ

Given your stated diet, it's the "chips" that are the problem. That's where you are getting the "fast absorbing, blood sugar spiking and sustained high level" starches that are messing with your levels.

Since you are in the UK I am assuming when you say "chips" you are referring to "french fries" (on my side of the pond "chips" is potato chips in the bag πŸ˜ƒ)

While I loved my potato and still eat "a bit" if you are able to replace it with "other roots" instead - carrot, turnip, rutabaga or even parsnip - all of which are miles more sugar friendly then potato, you might even your sugar levels considerably.
