In Diabetes Education they tell you not to eat more than 30-35 carbs per meal if you are not active but if you are active you can have 40 - 45 carbs per meal. Since my A1C is 8.8 my doctor told me not to consume more than 50 carbs per day!

Welcome to the group.

Usually you should ask your doctor or his diabetic team or a dietician for what they want you to eat. It is different for everyone depending on what your doctor wishes you to be at. It also depends if you are on insulin or not. A nutritionist or dietician could help build a plan for you. My dad was newly diagnosed in Oct or Nov, and his doctor got in contact with his dietician who then called my parents and spent time over the phone (because of Covid no in person appt), my parents have a fax machine so she then sent information by fax, if not they would have mailed them.

I keep myself to 100-125 per day, spread out among all meals and snacks.

I try to keep the majority of carbs to 4-6 hours before bedtime.
