I just found out 4 days ago, I’m type 2. I don’t know what to eat. I know to watch my carbs, sugars, and starches. I’m on Metformin 1x/day. Members rallied around someone newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes asking for meal plans and fast food options, with the overwhelming consensus being to start by eliminating added sugar, tracking daily carbs (with many aiming for 100 or fewer), and seeing a diabetic dietitian who can create a personalized plan. Several members shared practical strategies, including reading nutrition labels to focus on net carbs (total carbs minus fiber), prioritizing lean proteins and vegetables, using a food scale to measure portions, and searching online for diabetic-friendly recipes using phrases like 'recipe name for diabetics.' A recurring theme was that managing diabetes is a gradual process requiring patience and trial and error, with members encouraging small changes one at a time, exploring resources like Kaiser's free diabetes classes, and remembering that fast food is still an option with careful portion control and smart choices like bacon-egg sandwiches on English muffins or grilled chicken without fries.

Ask your Dr to send you to a Nutrionist. They can help a lot. Especially with meal plans and explain in what and what not to eat.
