Members clarified that a fasting blood sugar of 9.0 mmol/L (about 162 mg/dL, using the Canadian measurement system) is somewhat elevated, with most agreeing that the ideal fasting range is between 4.0 and 7.0 mmol/L, though some mentioned their doctors consider 6.0 to 8.0 acceptable. Several members shared practical nighttime strategies to help stabilize morning readings, including eating a small bedtime snack of protein paired with a few carbs, such as peanut butter with crackers or celery, which digests slowly and can prevent blood sugar spikes overnight. A recurring theme was the direct connection between evening food choices and morning numbers, with members encouraging continued effort and experimentation to find what works best for individual bodies.

The protein keeps sugars level overnight for some people because it digests slowly. It works for me as a bedtime snack with 2 crackers and peanut butter.

Mine is usually between 9 and 10 in the morning which is a bit high but I always know it's because of supper the night before of coffee and biscuits but if I have celery with peanut butter in the groove for supper and then I'm in the 7 _8 range
