Basaglar Vs Lantus
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

Things in general have been good. Got my A1c from 13.5 to 5.8 in 6 months.

Got a question though. I was on Lantus at first. Then I switched insurance and the new insurance would not cover Lantus. They only pay for Basaglar, It seems that Basglar does not work as well as the Lantus did in me. It takes quite a bit more units for it to have the same effect.

Is this normal. Has anyone else noticed anything like this?

It is the biosimilar equivalent of lantus unfortunately for some people their bodies do not recognize the "genetic" version which isn't uncommon.

If it is a issue best to talk with your endo and see if you can get a insurance override.
