Is Anyone Using Toujeo Insulin
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was on Lantus and Apidra for many years. My Dr changed my insulin to Toujeo and Apidra. I am finding Toujeo less effective and have to take more of it. Has this happened to anyone else. Also am struggling with morning blood sugars which are high no matter what I eat the night before.....Insulin has also resulted in weight gain . Please share if you have any solutions to this problem or know anyhing about Toujeo. Thanks

I switched from Lantus to Toujeo at the start of this year. It's just double strength and long-lasting Lantus so, in my case, I was able to reduce my injections from two to one a day. My one morning injection now lasts for twenty-four hours.
I have not noticed any change in my morning and evening readings since starting on Toujeo.

Toujeo sucks,; but it is was Medicare covers. I have also taken Levimir and Lantus. I had the greatest success with Lantus and also didn't have to take very much. We are the victims of a poor medical system. A major side effect of insulin is weight gain.but should level off. Also insulin injections in the stomach will give you a spare tire but it is the most effective site. The high morning blood sugars is actually called "Morning Phonomenom" and not much you can do about it so don't beat your self up. It has nothing to do with what you ate the night before and everything to do with the body's own metabolism. It will release sugar around 3-5am The Zone diet. I don't care for it myself, but it does work. High protein. No matter what you eat make sure you eat protein with it. Works

I was told Toujeo was the closest thing to the insulin that would be produced naturally and is a concentrated form of insulin. I must say it seems to provide me with less sugar control and I end up taking more insulin and putting on weight which is driving me crazy. I think the doctors just experiment with the insulins and some insulins just work better than others.
