My BG Is Fairly Decent At Night, Say 5.1 When I Go To Sleep. When I Wake Up In The Morning It Is 8. This Is Worrying
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

As a rule I have my last meal at 16h30 and then only have one cup of coffee, no sugar, after that. I am fairly comfortable with my reading in the evening before bed, that averages around 5. But when I wake up and take a reading in the morning it is very high, around 7,9 or 8 sometimes. This is concerning and I want to understand why that is. Please help

Are you drinking lots of water?
Water helps flush things out and
helps out all the organs.

My doctor told me to have a small snack like cheese and crackers at bedtime. It actually helps

You might need a little snack at night. Your blood sugar is dropping at sometime in the night and the liver is kicking in. Try a piece of whole wheat bread and peanut butter. It can keep you steady with the protein and a little bit of carbohydrate.

Sometimes eating 5 gr. or so of carbs right before bed can help , look it up though.
