Im Having Trouble Falling Asleep Most Nights.
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have T2D for many years, im on insulin, and tablets... recently maybe past 6 months, im struggling to fall asleep. sometimes I fall asleep in a few minutes. does insomnia part of diabetes symptoms. i used to take valium but stopped that for a long time. i use meditation apps now to fall asleep. but it doesnt always work. is there any other ways of falling asleep in a natural way.

Benadryl is my sleep aid, but not every night. My problem is getting back to sleep after I wake in the middle of the night.

Yes in my opinion insomnia is a huge part of Diabetes. I faithfully take Zzzzquil and sleep through the night. at least 6 continuous hours. I know you said natural...have you taken melatonin?

If you can't get back to sleep after you wake in the middle of the night, get up, have a drink and read a book for about an hour. It's more effective that tossing and turning in bed.

Thanks for the tips. Will try anything. I've even tried banana tea. Boil the peel and drink before bedtime. It used to work...I now stick to meditation apps.
