Are you low carbing yet? No bread, potatoes, white rice, pasta, junk foods, Processed foods, soda pops or fruit juices. Portion control. Fresh foods. I eat more salads than I used to because I'm not crazy about cooked veggies. With my Dr's approval, I sometimes substitute a shake made with protein powder for breakfast or lunch. Bread is the hardest thing for me to give up. Exercise, even just walking on a regular basis helps; lots of water or sugar free liquids.
Not having carbs???? Um, since just about ALL foods have carbs, what are you eating??? trick is, good carbs vs the BAD carbs. Then there is portion control too!! And with fruit you have to watch what you or how much you eat, as some fruits will rise your blood sugars. Trick is either avoid that fruit or eat less of it!!
My numbers were also in the 20's even with 80 units lantus every night as well as 3 types of pills too. Enough was enough, so I went on the keto diet. It's been great. I had to stop taking insulin all together because of some severe lows. It only took 3 weeks to get off the insulin. 2 of the 3 meds have been lowered as well. Blood pressure, cholesterol, inflammation, arthritis, all down. The only side effect I have on keto is the weight loss...lol. 68 lbs down since April.
Everyone of us have different reactions to what we eat. I have been controlling my type 2 very well. I can eat a baked potato with no issue but I can’t eat pasta. I eat all the berry fruit and some watermelon and cantaloupe. I DO EXERCISE. We have to. I walk a lot. I bought s fit bit and I walk 9000 to 10000 steps a day. I hope you get numbers down!!!
Good for you Gail!!!!!
