i'm looking to start carb counting to see if it can help me manage my weight. my doctor said i can do it if i want to but that it would be more for my informantion then any thing else. help
I signed up for free low carb program with food diary which helps you count your carbs. diabetes.co.uk
I use an application that counts carbs but mostly it is a calorie counter that also tells you how many carbs a particular food has. Mine is called Fitness Pal but you can go to your playstore and put in carb counter or calorie counter and several should come up.
Good luck, your on the right path. Good rule of thumb, anything made with white wheat will be high in carbs. Remember, not all carbs are bad. Veggies for example have carbs but usually low carbs and the fiber cancels some of the carbs.
15 grams of carbs = 1 carb...2-4 carbs per meal.
Concentrate on eating Low Glycemic veggies and fruit and proteins.
Check out the south beach diet or a book called the real meal revolution, my Dr recommended these. Also there is one called the glycemic index that gives lists of foods and their impact on blood sugar. It is very informative. I think reading about food helps us to know why our diets are failing...especially when you are trying so hard then find out the food you thought was good is loaded with carbs. Education is power .
