Who's Taking Farziga And How Do You Handle That It's Expensive?

A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭
Athena, OR

My Medicare supplement has a $250 ceiling on how much out of pocket I have for any one medicine-- but farxiga is over $100 more than that. Not covered by the insurance evidently. What experiences do others have?

I don’t know where you live but in Canada your doctor can contact your insurance provider to get medications covered.

If you are near a Costco go there. You can save up to 30% on drugs whether they are covered or not.

see if your doctor can set you up with samples. Let the doctor know what it is costing you and the financial burden it puts on you. They can work with you on that one way or another.

With you being on Medicare you can't use a patient assistance program from the pharmaceutical company. You have to be low income for the household and COMPLETELY WITHOUT INSURANCE OF ANY KIND!

Talk to your pharmacist and find out the manufacturer. Most pharmaceutical companies offer patient assistance that you may qualify for. There is an application process. You will have to determine whether it is less expensive to use the company's patient assistance program or Medicare. You can't use both on once prescription.
