If the retirement home was hosting a talk on diabetes what would you want them to explain to your loved one?

Hi Im type 2 and on insulin. I only have to take one shot at night. My question is sometimes when im doing my shot it burns really bad or I get a hard bump under my skin where I get my shot so I dont think it is getting into my system. Any help would be appreciated
