What Causes The BS At 2 Hours After Eating To Go Up?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question πŸ’

I believe I'm eating properly, watching the carbs but when I do the 2 hour after a meal BS it is usually anywhere from 180's to 212. The 1 hour is usually around 150's-160's. I'm allowed 40 carbs a meal but most times don't even have half of that.

I'm pretty new to this disease, but I have noticed that food combinations effect how high and how fast I spike. If I eat protein with my meal I won't spike as fast. I was taught that I should aim to keep my bs from going up by less than forty 2 hours after a meal. So, I check my sugar before I eat, if it's running over 120 I'm more careful with portion size. I've learned that even if I'm eating very healthy, portion size plays a role. Foods that take longer to digest seem to keep me from spiking though my bs will still go up. As far as counting carbs go I watch out for them and don't eat the foods known to be high in carbs, but I don't count them as carefully as those who are on injections. I was told to keep mine around 40, but those portion sizes are too large for me most of the time. My best tool is this tiny little skillet I bought. If I can't cook it in that I don't eat it. It's true I've learned how to cram that little sucker full but that's ok. Ha.

I'm having the same issue. I'm asking them to evaluate delayed stomach emptying to see if that's the culprit. I'm trialing taking my bolus after I eat to match my peak....
