My nutritionist told me to have 45carbs for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Two snacks a day each 15carbs. You should eat every 3 to 4 hrs. Try to do 30 minutes of exervise each day even if you have to break it down in 10 minutes at a time. Walking in place while watching tv is a good way to get moving. Even if you only do it during commercial.

Hi There are no foods that are diabetic, it is a healthy eating plan. Fruit and vegetables...eating more fruit and veg can help with blood pressure, and helps the heart and circulation. If you replace other food choices with more fruit and veg then they could help you loose weight. It is recommended that you eat five portions of fruit and veg a day..one portion is two to three tablespoons of vegetables..one dessert bowl of salad...one piece of fruit...two small fruits e.g satsumas or plums...two tomatoes/seven cherry tomatoes...two to three tablespoons of fruit tinned in natural juice, no syrup or light syrup ones....low fat and low calories chicken turkey fish lean meat about the size of a pack of playing cards...beans lentils..Fruit..Brown bread potatoes, rice, pasta cereals (starchy carbohydrates)..trumpets and tea cakes..semi skimmed milk and low fat yogurt, one bourbon biscuit or cookie...two crackers, three crisp breads (Riveta)....fat free and very low calorie vegetables...diet or low calorie drinks...sour fruit...fat free dressing...Hope some of this helps. Good luck and good health

Carbs between 100-125 per day (split up among meals and snacks)

If you opt for keto, the carb count will be closer to 0 carbs

Do not eat carbs after 6pm (it affects your overnight/morning numbers)

Stick with fresh or frozen vegetables and fruits (not canned)

Learn to read and compare nutrition labels to help make your best, healthiest choices

Drink more water (60-120oz per day)

Find food lists for glycemic index glycemic load (they are different)

Research terms...
Dawn phenomenon
Nutrition labels
Glycemic index
Glycemic load
How hormones, exercise, and outside temperatures affect your blood sugar numbers
Fasting blood sugar and A1C (they're linked, but not the same)
Diabetic, low-carb, and keto diets

The most useful formula I found was to multiply the ideal weight for your height...to get your caloric requirement... Use the mid point in the range... Then I attempt to limit my carbs to less than 45 per meal, or 145 per day... that includes fibre and sugars. At this stage I frequently eat much less, and most proteins and fats are dense calories.. It would also be smart to avoid empty calories... Find a Diabetes guide at your local book store... one that counts both calories and carbs, broken down...
