Is Insulin Resistance The Same As Type 2 Diabetis Or Is There A Difference?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed 13 years ago with Insulin Resistance. Some say it is Type 2 Diabetes. Is it or is it not? I was tested many times but the highest I know about was about 4 years ago tested fasting and my insulin was 22 at the time. It is normal now.

It is not the same but, insulin resistance often leads to diabetes.

Katherine is right. They're not the same. IR can lead to diabetes. Diabetes is avoidable, but not curable. The best you can hope for is remission.

Now is a good time to start researching where you're at medically and what your facing if you don't get this under control.

Insulin resistance is the beginning of the path to T2 diabetes.....and it ALWAYS leads to T2 diabetes unless you start intervening NOW. Get sugar and artifical sweeteners out of your diet NOW....and get exercise.....and DON'T let a Dr put you on a "prophlactic" dose of Metformin.......this drug actually accelerates the descent into T2 diabetes......
