Members offered several perspectives on shin pain experienced by a pregnant member with type 2 diabetes, suggesting possible causes including diabetic neuropathy, shin splints from overuse without stretching, or pain in the peroneus longus muscle that can be relieved through targeted stretches and strengthening exercises. Several members encouraged seeing a foot specialist for proper diagnosis and emphasized the importance of blood sugar control during pregnancy, noting that diabetic pain typically occurs when diabetes is not well managed. A recurring theme was balancing the challenge of managing diabetes as a mom with staying positive, celebrating progress made in lowering blood sugar levels, and seeking support from the diabetes care team.

I had this. I even went to Physical Therapy for it and no one knew what it was. So, I did some research. It turned out to be Pain in the Peroneus Longus. They have an article on LiveStrong about it. Anyway, there are stretches you can do to relieve the pain after walking and then there are strengthening exercises you can do to help build up that muscle to eventually make it strong enough to stop hurting completely. I hope that helps.
