Dietdoctor.com is a really helpful website that teaches you all about the low-carb high-fat diet for diabetes. I started with this and I lowered my sugar from a 12.1 random reading to a 5.8 reading in 3 months period my A1C went from 7.3 to 6.3. I wasn't able to keep up with a strict keto 20 grams a day carbohydrate diet. I then went to diabetes co. UK which is much more moderate low-carb and a lot of other options are there too plus a forum. I'm now on a more moderate low-carb diet of about 75 - 100 grams a day of carbohydrate and high fat but healthy fats. I found the diabetes. Co. Uk really helpful about finding your own individual diet using your blood glucose meter to test before and two hours after meals to see what you can eat without spiking your blood glucose.
I find that low carb diets make me crave High Sugar snacks. I eat more vegies, fruit, beans, grains and limit my meat. That's what works for me. @DianeRejc
Low Carb does not work for me. I eat lots of Vegi's and Fruit and try to keep the fat low. Chicken white meat, Fish, very little Beef, about once a week and Pork Tenderloin or lean center cut chops, lots of Vegi Bowls. Low salt! I have lost 13 Lbs in the last 6 weeks. Walk daily about a mile a day.
Real plans is another really helpful website if you need help with meal planning and grocery shopping this one is the best. You can choose a primal or lchf Keto Plan but it's completely customizable and you can add your own recipes manually or copy recipes from anywhere on the internet. It's customizable to the point of excluding individual ingredients or food groups to your liking.
