This is a terrible life long condition. And I think it is easy to look at it as all bad. It most likely will shorten our lifespan and decrease our quality of life. It most likely means change and change is hard. But I don't think I would have learned to forgive myself, or that it is ok to take care of myself without diabetes. I always worried about the future and having diabetes has helped me learn to enjoy the moment. It has taught me that I don't have to be perfect to have worth and it… read more

Members reflected on the unexpected gifts diabetes has brought to their lives, with many describing how the diagnosis forced positive lifestyle changes they never would have made otherwise, including healthier eating, regular exercise, and finally addressing long-ignored mental and physical health needs. Several members shared that diabetes taught them resilience, self-compassion, and the ability to prioritize their own wellbeing, with one member crediting their diagnosis as a miracle cure that lifted them out of severe depression. A recurring theme was gratitude for the clarity and motivation diabetes provided, even while acknowledging the real challenges and complications, as members expressed how the condition ultimately made them stronger, kinder, and more intentional about living fully rather than just surviving.

Gives me a good reason to look after me so can live a long healthy happy life. I suffered greatly living with it undiagnosed. Now I know, its such a relief and removed the burden of mental illness. I am very happy learning intelligently of the nutrition, biology, endocrinology, physiology and psychology of it all. I no longer want depression or anxiety and for me, not speaking of others or making judgement, just for me learning how to prevent depression by treating my body with its exact natural needs to also benefit hopefully with any luck to be able to prevent cancer in my future or my organs to burn out. I do not want my body to die off bit by bit nor decay long long before my expiry date. I am so very joyed in having diabetes. My mental health has improved tremendously since starting new treatments. Its still not fully restored but it will be. I never want to go back to the morbidly overweight, suicidal angry person I was. I want peace and serenity and will do whatever it takes to get there organically to the best of my ability. Im not fighting it, Im working with it. I want to have contentment of my mind. And fully live not just stay alive. I have dreams and ambitions to fill and now finally have hope I can. For me my diabetes is a miracle cure to the horrific painful hell of existence I endured for too long.

That there are worst things in life than Diabetes. Losing a loved one because of cancer isn't easy. You can
never forget them. Diabetes has its' ups and downs, but remember you need to be prepared.
