What Advice Can We Give Fussy Eaters With T2
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

What advice can we give people with T2 who are too food "fussy" for their own good.

By food fussy, I mean they do not like this food or that food and some even claim it makes them feel sick.

As T2 we are susceptible to blindness, organ failure and gangrene causing amputations - and these people are complaining about some foods making "queezy" or some other minor issue.

Many who are addicted to sugar say they do not like an after-taste that some fake sugars have, or they believe the stories… read more

We all have to do things we do not like and having diabetes is ot something that I like having, but I also do not want to lose any limbs or go blind..so, with that said, I will do what needs to be done..It is not easy but these are the cards that we were dealt..Since May when I was diagnosed, I stopped having sugar..do only sugar I use is truvia and only for my oatmeal in the morning..I cheat once in a great while with soft serv yogurt and three little pieces of cheesecake..that is it..if it is a matter of life or death..choose life..

Salt is sweeter than sugar for Diabetics , always read your labels when grocery shopping for sodium levels , sugar can be substituted with artificial sweeteners and is low calorie , main thing is sodium and processed foods , if you are fussy with your foods , talk to a dietician , most pharmacies have Diabetic Consultants to help you find the right kinds of foods, the portions you should have per day and even recipes to try , you can even search everything online these days . always speak to your doctor first though as everyone has different symptoms and requires different diets

I would ask them if they would like to lead a life as normal as possible. Or do they want to go around possibly blind and missing a few limbs. T2 diabetes is mainly self inflicted. So put up or shut up. We all had to do it.

Get creative with what you will eat. Eating same things day in, day out gets to be very boring. There are all kinds of recipes online, that can be adjusted with the foods you’ll eat
