I was on metformin .made me very ill so I came off of them .told doc but she didn't offer me an alternative xx.

Metformin did the opposite on me. I lost 20 pounds within 3 weeks. This was 2012. I did some researching today and metformin interferes with B12 absorption. I have appt with an internist next month. All I know is everything went haywire when I started all 4 meds. When I was first diagnosed I took a cinnamon supplement or ate cinnamon and it does help. The new thing is tumeric the spice is helpful..Have your doctors considered chronic fatigue syndrome?

I was on metformin 4 several mths .made me really ill .lethargic .I was in bed more than I was up ,and put on 9 lbs .came off of them ,told doc but wasn't offered an alternative ,so im not taking anything ..try 2 manage it with diet but sugar still around 10 .and weight has stabilised .I still don't fill well but have not put on anymore weight .I don't no wat else 2 do .have had all sorts of tests and everything is ok .have got a liver scan to cum soon as I fill sick all the time .any suggestions .

I take glipizide and have no problems. Shingles is caused by the same virus that causes chicken pox.

Yes I have had shingles and I was pregnant and was exposed to a child without my knowledge while pregnant and doctors told me my immune system was down die to being pregnant. But I have used all these except Novolog and have never gotten anything as a matter of a fact I still take Glipezide and Metformin.
