A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

I am taking 500mg Metformin 3 x per day. Could this also be the cause of dizzy spells?

That is what my doctor gave me when he said I had type 2 diabetes was metformin 500 mg two times a day. Man did it make me so sick. Bad pain in my upper stomach and real bad diarrhea I could not go any where because of the diarrhea. So now I am on Novolog mix 70/30 Januvia 100mg Glipizde. Now I,m doing good you may have to change the medicine. A lot people have a lot of trouble with the metformin because of the side effects. Wish you luck.

I was on metformin 500 mg also when I got very sick and had to go to hospital because I had severe diarrhea which depleted calcium, magnesium and potassium. I take Lantus Solarstar, Januvia 100mg and Glipizide. I am still trying to get the right doses to control sugar.
