I'm Going From Victoza To Bydureon, Any Advice?
A DiabetesTeam Member asked a question 💭

My insurance has decided to make Victoza non-formulary so I'm having to switch to Bydureon. Is anyone using this? I've only been on Victoza for 5 mos and was doing pretty good with it, tho my morning nos have increased slightly. I've been able to decrease Lantus to just 6 units at bedtime and eliminate Novalog altogether. Did not lose any weight but still liked this med. I wish ns companies would not mess with what meds peoe can take.

I liked the Bydureon for BS numbers and lost weight but horrible constipation. Hope this helps get a laxative in case of trouble.

Can you please tell me more about your experience with @Bydureon. How long did it take your bg to stabilize? My nos will be pretty steady and then spike up close to 200. This is really bothersome to me. I was doing well on @Victoza and expected similar results with @Bydureon. I have only just started so I'm hoping it gets better with time.

I adapted to bydureon very well, maybe because I'd been using Victoza for 4 months. I found I had less side effects, no more nasty belchies, much less gas. I was about 2 weeks in before things settled down and my numbers got consistent. I stayed on an evening dose of Lantus for a while and then weaned off it. Now I just use bydureon.

I had one shot of Bydureon at the doctors. It started working for me within a couple days. It was wonderful, I felt normal again. Sadly my insurance wouldn't cover it. My Dr switched me to Trylicity which my insurance covers and it seems to help but taking longer. I'm told it takes 3-4 weeks for either to work at full potential. Side effects are the same for both...I get nauseous, vomiting, and headache but they say it will pass.
