Goodevening all.... I am new to this site and have a sorta uncomfortable question to ask. I have Type 2 Diabetes and take Metformin 1000 mg. 2x daily, Glimepriride 4mg once daily, plus 20 mg Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I have chronic constipation, followed by diahrea. I sometimes don't have any movement for 4 to 5 days. I get bloated, have stomach pain at times. Periodically I take magnesium citrate to get things moving, but after a couple days I start slowly plugging up again. I… read more
I was on 3x 800 mg of Metformin a day and it had the opposite affect on me. Could not get off the toilet for love nor money
went on for a few weeks then found out that I was overdosing on it.
Changed to 3 x 500mg a day and thing cleared up
Just goes to show how different us earthlings can be
I had to come off Metformin completely as it upset my stomach and bowels.
I've been type 2 for eight years. From the day I started taking Metformin I was troubled with loose motions. I was nervous of going out anywhere. Changed to slow release Metformin but not much changed. Now my Metformin has changed to 2gm every evening I get painful spasms most days. I have always eaten loads of fruit and veg as that has always been my diet. If I do eat sweet things I know about it the next day. I hate diabetes.
Drink at least 9 glasses of fluid a day, be it tea, coffee, water, milk, but preferably not soda, unless it is soda water...Pump up your fibre intake. This includes eating whole grain breads, fresh fruits and vegetables. Eating bran is also very good for you and some think it will make them loose but in fact bran works both ways and stops diarrhea and prevents constipation. I put all bran into my plain yogurt and frozen blueberries for either a breakfast or a dessert at night (with the dessert I add some nuts or walnuts). P.S. -- I take as much Metformin as you.
all u need to do is increase the fibre in ur diet & drink loads OF FRESH WATER
