I sip 150-250 ounces of water daily. Sometimes I don't sip enough.

You must uptake your water intake drastically. It can cause dehydration, from frequent urination. That's how it helps blood sugars, it draws the extra sugar out through urination
My doctor also suggested drink Gatorade zero to keep dehydration at bay. I did not consume enough water. Farxiga works the same way. My insurance stopped paying for Jardiance, and I was prescribed Farxiga. Just make sure to drink more water. Good luck

Great question! Jardiance (empagliflozin) works by making your kidneys flush out excess glucose through urine. This increased urination can lead to dehydration, which often causes frequent thirst — so you're definitely not alone in experiencing this!

Great question! Jardiance (empagliflozin) works by making your kidneys flush out excess glucose through urine. This increased urination can lead to dehydration, which often causes frequent thirst — so you're definitely not alone in experiencing this!

A DiabetesTeam member shared: "When I first started on my meds, I was so dehydrated I was getting excruciating leg cramps every time I laid down. That's gone away now that my body has gotten used to the meds." Here are some tips for coping with thirst and staying hydrated while on Jardiance:

- Drink water consistently throughout the day, not just when thirsty
- Check your urine color — aim for light yellow or clear
- Eat water-rich foods like apples, berries, or grapefruit
- Drink extra water during hot weather or exercise
- Avoid sugary drinks and limit diet sodas

Watch for dehydration signs like dry mouth, dizziness, dark urine, fatigue, or muscle cramps.

If thirst feels unmanageable, it's worth chatting with your healthcare provider — they can adjust your hydration plan based on your specific situation.
