The thing that Sucks the worst about being Diabetic when it comes to food...

Watermellon is about the Worst (fruit) that you can eat - it's GI is so high that much more than a taste is too much

Potato and Rice are the two Worst Veggies for high GI - again, a cup of Potato OR 1/2 cup of Rice which is likewise, barely a taste, is 30 carbs

White Flour is the Worst Grain - anything baked with it, 2 slices of bread, a roll - forget muffins etc, are more carbs than most of us can handle

So if it was a "staple in your life before diabetes" it is probably the worst thing you can stick in your mouth now as a diabetic

Of course, a script from the Doc for Anti-Diabetic Meds can allow you to eat more "normally" but you do have to medicate the way the excess so there is always a choice to make

But none of us can eat "normally" and Not Medicate it - ya, Diabetes Sucks

@A DiabetesTeam Member Hi. I eat an avocado a day. I like the taste and it's somewhat filling.👍

Unfortunately, life sustaining food can cause problems if not consumed in moderation.
Like my son said. Food that is supposed to keep us going can kill you if you don't eat what is healthy for you.
We are what we eat.

Portion size is important. A serving or 2, for many of those diagnosed with diabetes is all they can handle.

A serving of citrus is 1 small mandarin orange or the equivalent.

Some diabetics can handle more.

I have to count a serving of fruit as a meal replacement. But I do that most days.

Do what you need to do.
