I've done Jardiance for 5 months. At 2 months on 25 mg it was still doing very little and my electrolytes were always low. Jardiance and all SGLT-2s tells your kidneys to pull more dissolved solids... like sugars and salts from your blood.

I was constantly doing 2x doses of an electrolytes mix I make.

At 2 months I decided to take Jardiance first thing in the morning. I would not do the rest of my morning medications for an hour. During that hour I would first drink at least 25 Oz water in the first 5 minutes and another 25 Oz water through the next 55 minutes.

Then I would take the rest of my morning medications with at least 12-16 Oz water in the next 5 minutes. I used more salt in my food from that point on.

Then Jardiance started making a significant difference in my numbers. But of course since doing Jardiance, I've been averaging 225-300 Oz water daily.

It's nice that I broke the Jardiance code for me.

Good luck as you find your way.
I got this. And you can too.

Intermittent fasting, now 20-22 hours fasting. Eating 1 - 2-3 net carb meal and a 1-2 net carb snack is helping me. Try reading Dr Jason Fung's book, The Diabetes Code.

Be careful, you must drink enough water to avoid yeast infections. So you also need to keep your gut flora healthy. Some do it with prebiotics and probiotics.

I do it with 2 Oz unflavored unsweetened kefir one day and 3 Oz whole milk unflavored, unsweetened Greek yogurt the next.

It is natural, no capsules or pills. It works for me.

Good luck.

I myself was on Jardiance and @A DiabetesTeam Member may still be taking it. It works by pulling those sugars out through urination. You should up that water intake considerably or you will get dehydrated. My doctor advised me to also sip on Gatorade zero to help stop dehydration. You may want to eat no sugar added Greek yogurt as it can cause yeast infections, especially in women. If you like yogurt. It really is a good medicine for lowering blood sugars. And remember, all medicines have side effects even OTC ones. By the way, good luck on this journey and may you find your balance.

Are you wondering how Jardiance (empagliflozin) works and what others' experiences with it have been?

Jardiance belongs to a drug class called SGLT2 inhibitors. In plain terms, it works by telling your kidneys to flush out excess sugar through your urine, rather than reabsorbing it back into your bloodstream. This helps lower blood sugar levels in people with type 2 diabetes.

Some key things to know about Jardiance:

- It can also support modest weight loss as a bonus effect
- It may help reduce blood pressure
- It's taken once daily, usually in the morning
- It can be prescribed alone or combined with other diabetes medications like metformin (that combination is called Synjardy)

A few cautions to keep in mind:

- It can increase the risk of urinary tract and yeast infections due to the extra sugar passing through
- Staying well hydrated is important while taking it
- Always take it exactly as your doctor prescribes

Many DiabetesTeam members have shared positive experiences with Jardiance helping their blood sugar control, though everyone's response can be a little different.

As always, your doctor or a registered dietitian who specializes in diabetes can give the most personalized guidance on whether it's the right fit for you. 😊
