Welcome to the world of CGM sensors — it can be a bit of a learning curve at first, but you'll get the hang of it! Here are some tips to help keep your sensor in place for the full wear period:
To keep it on longer:
- Make sure your skin is clean, dry, and free of lotions or oils before applying
- Apply the sensor to a spot with less movement (upper arm or abdomen are common choices)
- Use an over-patch or adhesive patch on top — many people swear by these
- Avoid soaking in baths or hot tubs for long periods
- Pat dry after showering rather than rubbing the sensor area
To protect the edges:
- Skin-tac or similar adhesive wipes applied around (not on) the sensor can help seal the edges
- Medical tape around the border can also help As for the sensor being stuck in setup mode, this is likely a technical issue with the device itself rather than anything you're doing wrong. It's great that replacements are on the way!
In the meantime, contacting the manufacturer's support line is always a good move — they can often troubleshoot remotely and may offer additional replacements too.
