I have to do a bit more of the insulins right now.

I was in clinical remission for 5 years. Then I couldn't breathe for a year. In October I was put on oral steroids. 5 months later my pulse O2 came up to the low to mid 90s.

Oral Prednisone caused unbelievable high numbers. Numbers of about 225-400. Now my insulin resistance is sky high.

My normal range has been 80s to 135.

My numbers did not come down after discontinuing the oral prednisone. So I asked for help. Long acting insulin, fast acting insulin, and Jardiance.

Then I was diagnosed with pulmonary embolisms and put on the Eliquis blood thinner at maximum dosage.

Long acting insulin. 45 units both at night and in the morning.

35 units Fast acting insulin with each meal.

My total insulin is 195 units a day.

I am eat no more than 2-3 carbs per meal.

My numbers are down to 108-160. Still too high.

But I see some other encouraging things. Occasionally I can cut back on my insulin a bit. Only if my numbers are low enough.

I'm doing 25mg Jardiance at wake-up. I test my blood glucose numbers. Take the rest of my morning medications.

I'm doing my 5mg Eliquis blood thinners morning and night.

I popped 1 of my ribs off my sturnum Monday morning. I also broke another rib.

Deep breaths hurt. Coughs, sneezes, and laughing drives me to my knees. The screaming gets attention.

I had to take a nap today. Because we had 8 pm theatre tickets for Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville. Otherwise the Parkinson's can cause disruptions.

I'm in bed, using my BiPAP. I Adjusted my mask for a better seal.

Good night Warriors.

So I inject 16 units of the fast acting insulin before every meal right now like my diabetes team instructed and then long acting once a day before bed and that’s 30 units

What is your current number. How much insulin did you use.

It's important to know how the fast acting insulin impacts your numbers when eating specific amounts of carbs. So that 2 hour number from the time you begin eating is necessary.

For example.
If your number was 204 before you began eating.
You injected 5 units insulin.

Then note your 2 hour number.

If that 2 hour number is higher than your before eating number.
Then you must adjust accordingly.

If your 2 hour number is about the same as your before eating number.
Then you have used the right dosage of the fast acting insulin.

Do you inject long acting insulin glargine too 1-2 x a day. How much do you do each time.

Before eating it was 204 I didn’t check for after. But I haven’t eaten anything since 1:30 mainly because I’m not feeling good at all

What did your doctor say.

Fast acting insulin is generally taken with meals.

What were your numbers before eating and at 2 hours after beginning eating.
