I leave with diabetes type 2 and think Im developing peripheral neuropathy. Where can I get professional, effective treatment in Durban SA.

I am so sorry that you have had diabetes for such a long time and I’m sad to read that you have diabetes complications now.

If you’re on a medical aid, you really should see an Endocrinologist. They specialise in diabetes.

If that is not possible, you will need to go to the Diabetic Department of a Government Hospital. They will insist that you live within the region that the Hospital is located.

Or, If you have a private GP, he can refer you to an Endocrinologist who works at a Government Hospital. I think that you have to be referred.

Whatever option you choose or can do, please do not neglect yourself.
You need to be proactive and make a plan, and you do not want any further diabetic complications.

My Mom used to go to the Diabetic Clinic at Addington, but I’m not sure whether it is still running.

I have heard good reports about King George V Hospital (the name has changed) and excellent reports about Albert Luthuli. You most definitely have to be referred to Albert Luthuli. If you have a relative in or near one of these hospitals, then use their address, otherwise you’ll never get help.

I urge you to make a plan and start making enquiries either online or telephonically, as to which hospital will accommodate you.
