When we originally run high blood sugar our bodies maybe are used to that high level. When through diabetes management our blood sugar drops it could be that our bodies mistakenly think this is a crisis thus the cravings.
I find that really convincing myself I don’t want or need sweets works but not all the time as when I’m presented with a pudding or dessert.
However it did work with cigarettes- the last one I smoked was August 2003 and I’ve never felt the slightest desire to smoke again.
I do sugar free jolly ranchers but very minimal as stomach issues. Soda on rare occasions but only zevia which is stevia sweetened and the grapefruit or rootbeer. Other flavors are too sweet.
I’m 4 yrs since diagnosis and I still like my sweets. I choose options with monk fruit and allulose . If your a chocaholic like me choc zero makes chocolates plus a multitude of other products that are sweetened with monkfruit and don’t mess with my blood sugar. They are online. I do love their marshmallows. I like their chocolate because it doesn’t mess with my stomach either.
I bring very little processed food into my house. Once upon a time I craved ice cream. With none in my house, my second option was to walk to Dari Queen, 1.5 mile walk each way. I made it all the way only once. Now I have cake and ice cream at my grand children's B-day celebration. By the way, I use to eat frozen yogurt but was only fooling myself.
I watch out with sugar free candy it works we get life saver type it helps for my cravings for sugar no pop
