Thanks everyone for the insights. They really help. I never knew Canola Oil was processed. I'll spring the extra dollars for the Olive.
THEY work with incomplete science and they have an audience with the attention span of a gnat so eating guidelines should always be evolving to reflect what they "know today" that was a "guess" a few years ago
Dietary Cholesterol from eggs and organ meat (two of the biggies) is NOT the Cholesterol that is "bad" in our blood
Our cholesterol is produced by our own livers that are trying to deal with "certain" Saturated Fats we consumed (not cholesterol in eggs)
For years cholesterol was "bad" - why?
We as humans had a cholesterol in our blood problem - eggs and liver had lots of cholesterol so the "wisdom" said "just cut back on these high cholesterol foods and it should help"
Ok, they got it wrong but it was a "reasonable conclusion" to make at the time until the science caught up
Same with Saturated Fats - low attention span eaters so it's best to just say "Avoid Saturated Fats"
Even when they "learned" that not all Sat Fats are equal and those in Dairy, Coconuts and Palm do NOT cause cardiovascular problems like the ones found in Bacon and T-Bone steaks
But if (they) start getting complicated, WE stop listening - we want a simple answer
Eat this, Don't Eat that and it doesn't work like that and We/They Don't Know Everything but there is this tendency to treat (them) like they are conspiring to do something to us if they change the message along the way to fall in line with the new science
I only use Olive Oil, so much better, and one tends to use less when cooking.
Hello Larry597. I use extra virgins olive oil in my salads, and cook n vegetables. It makes the food taste delicious.
Canola oil is processed. Extra virgin olive oil is not. Multiple doctors visits and medications led to my gallbladder eruption. My insides were coated with unnecessary meds. I now eat as much natural and raw food as possibleand see a nutritionist every 6 months
