Research suggests that moderate caffeine consumption (200-300mg per day, or about 2.6-3.5 cups of coffee) may actually have some benefits for people with diabetes. However, caffeine can affect each person differently, and some people may experience blood sugar fluctuations after consuming caffeinated beverages.

The key is to monitor your individual response and make gradual changes rather than sudden ones to your caffeine intake. Keep track of your blood sugar levels when consuming caffeine to understand how it affects you personally. If you notice any of these signs, you may be consuming too much caffeine:
• Jitteriness or nervousness
• Unexpected blood sugar spikes
• High blood pressure
• Heart-related symptoms

If you experience negative effects, consider switching to decaf coffee - you can still get many of the beneficial effects of coffee without the caffeine. Always discuss any significant changes to your caffeine consumption with your healthcare provider to ensure it aligns with your diabetes management plan.

Jimmers I have quite a lot of caffeine each day and it doesn't seem to affect my blood sugar levels. That's me. Everyone is different as we all know.

@A DiabetesTeam Member hello I drink coffee ☕️ every morning at home and I love a Cappuccino coffee at the coffee shop or at the Club on Thursday morning and then no more coffee until the next day. I use full cream milk and a sweetener

Coffee tastes great first thing in the morning!

Hugs from Judyxx
